Code requirementEach food establishment where potentially hazardous foods are prepared shall employ at least one certified full time, on-site manager who is at least 18 years of age. Establishments with 10 or more full-time employees must have at least 2 certified managers.

Hours of Instruction15 hours plus examination; recertification requires a minimum of 6 hours of classroom training plus exam.

Certification RenewalEvery 3 years

MiscellaneousReciprocity is granted for ServSafe certification. One must show proof of completting the course (I.e. certificate) and pay a fee of $30 if required. Rhode Island Health Department - 401-222-2749
