Privacy Policy
The National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF) respects your privacy and knows that you care about how your information is used or shared. We value your trust and have created this privacy policy so that you are aware of our commitment to maintaining it.
Information Collected by the NRAEF
General Users
If you are merely browsing the NRAEF Web site, the only information we collect about you is done in a way that preserves your anonymity. The NRAEF Web site logs the IP address and domain name used in connecting to the site to track a user's session for systems administration purposes only. We collect this information in order to assess which parts of our site users are visiting. We do not link IP addresses or domain names to anything personally identifiable. This means that a user's session will be tracked, but the user will be anonymous.
Registered Users
You must register on the NRAEF's Web site in order to purchase products, take online courses, sign up for email news, or engage in any other activity that requires us to keep track of your records individually. We collect this information in order to ensure the integrity of our services and to maintain accurate records for billing and shipping. For example, when you register we may collect contact information (like your email address), financial information (like your credit card numbers) and billing/shipping addresses in order to communicate with you and to effect payment for a purchase. You can elect not to provide certain information, but then you may not be able to take advantage of our services without disclosure of this information.
Voluntary Information
On occasion, the NRAEF may also survey and solicit feedback from users to help improve the products, services, and information that we provide. These information requests are strictly voluntary. Such surveys may also provide you with opportunities to receive products or additional business-related information, but you may opt-out of receiving these communications at that time.
Use of Personal Information
The NRAEF does not sell the information it collects from you on its Web site. The NRAEF will only share the data we collect with the National Restaurant Association (NRA) and our state restaurant association partners. If your access to goods or services on the NRAEF Web site has been paid for by another organization (e.g. your employer), we may also share some information with that organization.
You may review and approve the information we collect from you upon registration in our database. We will remove the information from our customer database or change/correct personal information that you state is erroneous upon your request. Public Forums
This site may make chat rooms, forums, message boards, listservers and/or news groups available to its users. Please remember that any information that is disclosed in these areas, including your name, contact information and opinions expressed, may become public information and you should exercise caution when deciding to disclose such information.
Security of Information on the NRAEF Web Site
SSL Encryption
The NRAEF Web site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control. We use industry standard SSL encryption when accepting your credit card information during our processing of online forms. SSL encryption is a method by which information transmitted across the Internet is scrambled to the point where it's virtually indecipherable by anyone who should intercept the data before it reaches its destination. Most reputable online stores make use of SSL encryption to request credit card information and other sensitive data from their customers. A lock or key symbol displayed somewhere in your browser typically identifies Web pages where SSL encryption is activated.
Other Security Issues
While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, we also do everything in our power to protect user-information off-line. Information sent to the NRAEF via email is stored on our server behind a firewall and is not "web-accessible."
Links to Other Sites
The NRAEF site contains links to other sites, such as our sponsors. While the NRAEF expects the operators of such sites to handle your personal information in a manner that respects your privacy, the NRAEF is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such web sites. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by the NRAEF Web site, NRAEF.org.
