When it comes to responsible alcohol service, it pays to know the laws and training requirements of your state before you start training. These regulations can vary from state to state, and may include additional supplements.

ServSafe Alcohol Online Course and Exam can be used in the following states:

  • New Jersey
  • North Carolina
  • North Dakota

*In Maryland, the ServSafe Alcohol Online Course and Advanced Proctored Exam (60 questions) must be used to receive credit for training. The ServSafe Alcohol Online Course and Exam will only be accepted/recognized if the exam is proctored.

Attend a ServSafe Alcohol instructor-led class in the following states. Online currently not accepted:


  • Alabama
  • Colorado
  • Michigan
  • New York
  • Pennsylvania
  • Tennessee

The state Alcohol Beverage Control Commission (ABC) is the only accepted responsible alcohol service program in the following states:

  • Delaware
  • Hawaii
